Role in the Production – Writer and Director

Dr. M. Sayeed Alam, 55, hails from Basti, Uttar Pradesh, and holds a Doctorate in International Politics from Aligarh Muslim University (1994). A former university teacher and journalist, he embraced theatre as a full-time profession the same year. Alam runs Pierrot’s Troupe in Delhi, through which he has written, directed, and acted in over 1500 performances of 55+ plays, including Ghalib in New Delhi, Akbar the Great Nahin Rahe, Maulana Azad, Sir Iqbal, 1857, Begum Akhtar, and To Gandhi Ji With Spelling Mistakes. 

Known for blending humour, history, and histrionics, his works have toured India, the UK, USA, Canada, the Gulf, and Pakistan. He has also created TV serials, documentaries, and quiz shows, and portrayed iconic figures like Ghalib, Iqbal, and Gandhi on stage. An active voice in children’s theatre, Alam has received the Ghalib Award (2011), Delhi Urdu Academy Award (2017), and the India Harmony Award (2019)—honours he credits to Pierrot’s Troupe.
